Multipurpose use of water and related management implications under a changing climate in high mountain regions – A first approximation
For the last years, the Glaciares+ Project has been promoting exchange spaces for the construction of the adaptation approach based on Multipurpose Projects (MPPs) or Multiuse of water, sharing experiences, lessons learned, main challenges and opportunities. For this purpose, contributions have been made by specialists and officials from mountain regions, involved to water and risks of disasters management, in the face of climate change effects. The Multipurpose use of water and related management implications under a changing climate in high-mountain regions – A first approximation document, gathers the results of the discussions that took place in the workshops held in June 2018 in Lima, Peru and Sion, Switzerland. A first conceptual approach to MPPs is presented; existing experiences and success experiences; conditions, recommendations and strategies for planning. Also, it is presented the vision we have about MPPs and steps to achieve this.
